Here are just a few examples of the potential for harm to our environment:

• Improper collection and disposal of fats, oils and grease can lead to these substances getting into our municipal sanitary sewer system. This can lead to sewer overflows that can contaminate business sites, homes and the outdoors too. Post-spill clean up and maintenance is expensive.
• Many businesses don't regularly inspect and clean out their storm water retention systems. These systems become full and then overflow, dumping not only fats, oils and grease, but also metals, chemicals and other potentially dangerous pollutants directly into our streams, rivers and oceans. Federal, state and local governments are starting to enact regulations to prevent this and businesses will be required to comply.
• Rainwater mixed with even a trace amount of oil or industrial materials is a threat to agriculture, wildlife and our own water supplies.

Recycling for a better environment applies to liquid waste too
Recovery and reuse of waste materials has become increasingly important in our industrial society. We're committed to extracting new and cost-effective resources out of waste water that was previously considered worthless.

Believe it or not, we're able to recover a wide range of recyclable products from the waste streams we process. Fats, oils and other lower-grade materials recovered from grease trap waste can be reused as components of blended industrial grade fuels. Another important recycled product comes from the treatment of oily wastewaters and grit-trap waste, from which we recover hydrocarbons for reuse in fuel processing and plastics manufacture.
